The homestead was established by northern Italian immigrant Carlo Gervasoni soon after his arrival in Victoria in 1852 and prior to 1860. He erected a two storey stone farmhouse with timber verandah, wine and cheese cellars, stables and farm building using a rubble stone construction technique characteristic of northern Italian vernacular traditions.
